OnSeptember 24th eleven of Syrias strongest rebel brigades jointly announced theirrejection of the Syrian Opposition Coalition , the quarrelsome but broadly moderateIstanbul-based dissident leadership that is recognised by Western and Gulf governments.Syrians outside the country and those picked by foreigners have no authority, said a rebelspokesman. Moreover, he declared, Syrias revolution must be pursued within a clearIslamic framework, based on sharia law as the sole source of legislation.
