Accept
to hold something as true 認為/相信某事是真實的
1. I dont accept his version of events.
我不相信他對事件的說法。
2. I accept she may have been tired, but thats still no excuse.
我相信她也許是累了，但是那并不能成為理由。
to receive something willingly 樂意接受某事/某物
1. I accept this award on behalf of the whole cast.
我很榮幸代表全體演員接受這個獎項。
2. Please accept my resignation.
請您接受我的辭呈。
Except
as a preposition it means apart from except作為介詞，是除之外
1. I can resist everything except temptation.
除了誘惑，我可以抵擋一切。
2. We work everyday except Sunday.
除了星期天，我們每天都在工作。
as a conjunction it means if not the fact that except作為連詞，意思是若不是
1. I would go swimming, except I am scared of big fish.
若不是我害怕大魚的話，我會去游泳的。
2. I would buy the skirt, except that it cost too much.
若不是價格太貴的話，我就會買下那條裙子。
