as 作為英語中一個非常活躍的詞，其引導的從句在中學階級較為多見，它們的種類應根據實際意義具體分析判定。筆者現將 as 引導的從句歸納并說明如下：
一、 as 充當連詞，引導狀語從句。
1. 引導時間狀語從句，主句動作與從句動作同時發生，譯為當的時候；一邊一邊。如：
As the students watched him quietly， he mixed the three together.
當學生們靜靜地看著他的時候，他把這三種液體攪和在一起。
As the pupils walked along the lake， they sang happily.
學生們沿著湖一邊走，一邊高興地唱著。
2. 引導原因狀語從句，從句所表達的原因是比較明顯的，已為人們所知的。如：
As he did not know much English， he got out his dictionary and looked up the word cough .
由于他英語懂得不多，就拿出字典來查咳嗽這個詞。
As it was getting very late， we soon turned back.
因為很晚了，我們很快就回來了。
3. 引導方式狀語從句，此時 as 可譯為如；像；按照。如：
Remember， you must do everything as I do.
記住，你們都要照我這樣做。
When at Rome do as the Romans do.
（諺語）入鄉隨俗。
I have changed it as you suggested.
我已經按照你的建議把它改好了。
4. 引導讓步狀語從句，多用于書面語中，且須用部分倒裝語序，即將從句的表語或狀語等前置。它比 though 和 although 引導的讓步狀語從句更有表現力，語氣更強。如：
Poor as he was （＝ Though he was poor ） he was honest.
他雖然貧窮，但很誠實。
Child as she is， she speaks English well.
雖然她是個孩子，但英語卻講得很好。
Fast as you read， you can't finish the book in two days.
盡管你讀得很快，但你不能在兩天內讀完這本書。
5. 引導比較狀語從句，從句通常可采用省略形式， as 譯為像一樣。如：
It isn't as （ so ） cold as it was yesterday.
今天不像昨天那么冷。
二 . as 充當關系代詞，引導定語從句
1. 引導限制性定語從句，在從句中作主語、賓語、表語等成分，先行詞通常被 such， the same 所修飾，構成 such as， the same as 結構。如：
You made the same mistake as （ you did ） last time.
你犯了和上次一樣的錯誤。
You must show my wife the same respect as you show me.
你必須尊敬我的妻子，像你尊敬我一樣。
Such women as knew Tom （ = Those women who knew Tom ） thought he was charming.
認識湯姆的女人都認為他很有魅力。
2. 引導非限制性定語從句， as 所代表的不是主句中的某個名詞或代詞，而是整個主句。 as 可放在主句前面或后面。如：
As is known to all， Taiwan is part of China.
眾所周知，臺灣是中國的一部分。
As we have seen， oceans cover more than 70 percent of the earth.
我們知道，海洋占地球面積的 70 ％以上。
